This is an utilitary focus, although intervention is done by programs we maintain and share to do things possible without complication:
Shared folders: Online
Computer can connext to other computer’s folders with encrypted communication, and it uses them as their own. With aumonet interruptions are not a problem and it will reconnect resources automatically. A notebook can switch between connection from Internet and from same network with the help of either dhlan or DHCP+DNS.
Shared folders: Replica way
Computer can be subscribed to server’s folders, and this way it can have a complete copy, and any change is synchronized with rest of users. It’s specially useful to face Internet connection difficulties or roaming. With Nextcloud synchronization is maintained and it allows to add private tools for remote work via web.
Mail, calendar and shared contacts
Free software (FOSS) to electronic mail, such as M. Thunderbird, N. Evolution, K-9 Mail or Fairemail, it’s essential to not spreading each e-mail account format and to keep a single application for all of them. IMAP protocol coordinates calendar also visible from different devices, and CardDAV protocol coordinates all contacts without losing them due to devices.
Simple devices place
Combination of DHCP and DNS makes it easy to locate things in a local network with a server, but in a simpler way it’s made with dhlan, a program that allows any computer to have a device associated to a name, no matter it changes its IP address or network and without server.
Software router
Router devices have many features to configure network with an easy interface, but also many limitations around ports. Computer can be used with durruter to replace traffic routing with no limits and, in case of replacing Internet provider’s router, configuration is not lost. Similar ease to configure as graphical interface.
Static IP addresses
Internet connection providers have increased cost rates a lot when reserving a public IP address for Internet connection, but with gesvipen we can assign Ip addresses from datacenters for input and output exclusive use, and also segmenting bandwidth if you want to split with more IP addresses in a single connection.
